I
got braces for my teeth on Halloween day when I was in the seventh grade. To commemorate
the occasion, I had the dentist put orange and black bands around the metal
fasteners attached to my teeth. It would be the first of many color changes
over the next two years. Red and green for Christmas. Red, white, and blue for
the 4th of July. Brown and orange for Thanksgiving.
But
my go to color combination for all other occasions was blue and white. I don’t
know why, but that was always my favorite. Fascinating that years later I would
marry a woman from Greece, whose flag is blue and white.
