Why do people in Hallmark movies always leave their boyfriend or girlfriend for some new, random stranger that they meet and fall in love with in a matter of days? They inevitably have been in their current relationship for 3-5 years, and up until this point, they have been content with it. Then, suddenly someone makes them see that all that time, they have been fooling themselves about who they are and what they want. And they run off with the new, exciting thing!
How
come they never stay with the current person? How come they never choose the
known over the unknown? I’ve had many chances through the years to leave my
wife for something that seemed better, but I never did. I would always realize
that things are always great before you know someone. They’re always great
until you have to go through something tough with someone. Relationships are
not like a job. You shouldn’t just hop from one to the next when a recruiter
comes along and says all the right things. Just like every company will have
its issues, so will relationships. You have to work through them. You have to
invest the time. They should make a Hallmark movie about that, instead of
always telling people to jump ship for the metaphorical greener grass.
